November in Wien abgespielt.

On December 11th 2012, starting at 19h, in Belgrade Youth Centre (Dom omladine Beograda), presentation of the book titled “O Podunavskim Švabama / Über die Donauschwaben / About Danube Swabians” will be held.

This project is based on “screening tour” of the film called “Danube Swabians”, writen and directed by Marko Cvejic, around Voivodina’s towns and villages, as an introduction for people in Vojvodina’s municipalities about history of Danube Swabians who where among the first to populate this area in 18th century, and where later, after WWII, driven away by communistic regime. Collective guilt was placed on German people, and many of them, who didn’t even support Nazi regime, where treated as enemies and foreigners in their one home. Only after 1992. people started to speak up about this incidents and many people from Serbia still do not know anything about them.

During the realization of the project, from March to June 2012., we visited about twenty places around Vojvodina, where we have discuss this topic with the local community after each screening. Great support to us were many intellectuals from different fields, who participated in panel discussions and thereby contributed to this topic. Some of our guests in these discussions were: Vladimir Arsenijevic, Milica Tomić, Pavel Domonji, Milena Dragićević Šešić, Lazar Stojanović, Theofil Pančić, Marijana Toma, Srdjan Tešin, Nebojša Popov, Uglješa Šajtinac, Dubravka Stojanović, Ivan Čolović, … At the end of the the tour, we decided to collect all exposures in one place and publish them in the form of a book. At the end of it there is a DVD with the film Danube Swabians. Our aim is to reach a wider range of interested people, and publicly tell the story that is slowly going into oblivion together with the last members of the Vojvodina’s Germans.

This promotion will be an opportunity to mark the World Human Rights Day (10 December 2012), and discuss again this issue with the presence of several prominent intellectuals who will be joined on this occasion.
